Mia Fey (also known as Ayasato Chihiro in the Japanese version of the game) is an experienced defense attorney and also head of her own law office: "Fey and Co. Law Offices."

Though a strict teacher, she is also a friend to her mentee, Phoenix Wright. Cool and calculated, but often not in good terms with remembering names correctly (such as her calling Larry "Harry".)

Mia is generally optimistic in her view of pertaining a good stance in court whilst defending clients, and often advises that one should "think out of the box" to uncover a truth from a different angle. Mia portrays a character of wisdom within the game, often giving advise of wise integretory that in turn helps Phoenix uncover hidden truths within certain cases. It is through her that an important part of the story line is uncovered, namely her family origins.

The Fey family, especially the women would specialise in supernaturalism as spirit mediums. And though Mia still has her younger sister, Maya Fey; her mother Misty Fey has been missing for the last 15 years.
